House Style with Jamie Fobert
After showing us around his converted Victorian warehouse in Clerkenwell, Jamie Fobert shares his house style.
You’re happiest at home when…
Preparing dinner for friends while listening to Bach at a very high volume.
How would you describe the interiors of your house?
Found, carefully added to, calming, light-filled.
If you could only save one thing, what would it be?
My grandfather’s belt from World War One.
What was the last thing you bought for the house?
A cast iron Dutch oven for baking bread.
Top three coffee table books?
I don’t own coffee table books.
If money was no object, what changes would you make?
Very little.
You’re having people over for dinner: what do you cook?
Since lockdown, like so many others, I have loved baking sourdough bread on weekends for guests.
What does a Sunday here look like?
The best Sundays are spent cycling in the English countryside with my husband.
What are the best things about the neighbourhood?
Being able to walk to the Barbican to see a concert, or the gallery there, and walk back with friends for supper.
How long will you be here for?
We have been here for 20 years and, while I love it, I can see a time when a new home would be a good idea.
